Dear Madeline

Beth Dubber

Dear Madeline is a series of letters and weekly photographs I am creating for my daughter to have when she is older. It started when she was 10 months old and I was working on a job in Northern California, which took me away from home for days or weeks at time. I always took her photo on the day of writing or the day before, in order to keep a visual timeline>

Being a working mom initiated a flood of emotions. I experience guilt, sadness, the fear of missing milestones and many others. It made me question my job, my decisions and think about what is best for my family

I decided to continue with this series after the job ended. I realize I have very few family photos and not to mention, anything that is handwritten form my immediate family, who have all passed away. I want Madeline to have these weekly letters to reflect snippets of our own lives, as well as the corresponding photo of her. I would have found this to be a treasure had I had it from one of my family members. I hope she loves them when I am long one.
